Adopt A Tree
Tarzian Hardware has taken part in Million Trees NYC, by adopting the Japanese Pagoda in front of our store. Trees in their first years of life need weekly watering to ensure it lives a long life, this is especially crucial right now since we have had a drought this spring. We have also aerated the soil, added tree tone, covered the tree pit in cedar mulch and provided a small fence.
If you would like to adopt a tree, please go to this link, and click Adopt Now. There are also instructions for tree care here.

Westpointe Air Conditioners
We were recently questioned as to why we carry the Westpointe brand of Air Conditioners instead of national brands. We want to provide a brief explanation.
The first reason is size. As an independent hardware store, we cannot always reach minimum order quantities to buy direct from national brands. This is the case with window air conditioners, as the required quantities are far more than we sell during a season. We are reliant upon our major suppliers for these types of products, and we are happy with the Westpointe brand.
Westpointe is a brand of Midea Air Conditioning. We called the manufacturer and it turns out that Midea makes various components, such as condensers and compressors, for major global brands such as GE and Frigidaire. In addition, the Westpointe brand of window air conditioners offer many of the same features as national brands. These features include: remote control thermostat, dehumidifier, and air purifying options. I have personally owned a 10,000 BTU model, and have been happy with it for over four years.

Satco Light Bulbs
We were recently questioned as to why we carry the Satco brand of light bulbs. We want to provide a brief explanation.
Tarzian Hardware has been doing business with Satco for almost 50 years. We rely on them for their breadth of product. This not only allows us to offer a more complete line of light bulbs in the store, but also enables us to special order hard to find items for our customers. We have also confirmed with Satco that they source many of their light bulbs from the same factories as other national brands such as Philips and Sylvania. In addition, we also have a gernerous return policy, so if a customer has any issues with a Satco bulb we welcome them to return or exchange their purchase.
Satco has also been nationally recognized for its quality and energy efficiency. Good Housekeeping ranked Satco’s CFLs as the best tested, in its article, “Lower your Light Bill and Save Energy”. Energy Star awarded Satco with ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year 2011, for its continued expansion of ENERGY STAR rated products, and its participation in the Green Levittown Project.
